Sidewalk Flowers by JonArno Lawson

Rating:

Warning: This book is a graphic novel without words

I wish I had written a review for this book when I had finished reading it because now trying to pull back information about what this book is about is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I remember that this book has no dialogue, well the dialogue is in watching the actions of this little girl who is picking up flowers from the ground everywhere she goes.

At first you may think well she is picking these flowers up for fun or to put it in her hair but later on when we discover her true intentions it is pure beauty. For once we meet a child as a character who is selfless and tries to make beauty from mother natures gift of blossoming flowers. The illustrations are great and this book is worth checking it out and reading it at a slow pace in order to get the absorb the theme of the book and the beauty of a child's innocence.

I wish there were more books like this to illustrate how pure and innocent children are in terms of what they are thinking and the creativity! Absolutely a beautiful book!
